Garcia, E., & Hoang, D. (2015). Positive Behavior Supports: Using Class Dojo as a Token Economy Point System to Encourage and Maintain Good Behaviors.
Measuring the Success of and EdTech Program
When measuring the success of an Ed Tech program you have to use the program for a long period time to be able to measure any success. With that in mind, and since I'm not so tech-savvy I once again must go back to ClassDojo. I really feel that this tool has been a great tool to help me with my classroom management. After doing my key assessment presentation and paper I have found out that there is a lot of research that has been done on ClassDojo. With just the little bit of research that I did read, I found that the researchers all had positive things to say about the effects of ClassDojo in the classroom. “With an education edifice in desperate need of structure and organization, Educators should use behavior management systems that can help them prevent undesired behaviors by maintaining and complimenting desired behaviors and a positive and effect full way (Garcia).” I personally can measure the success of this program due to the fact that I have used this program for five years. I see firsthand on a daily basis the positive effects that ClassDojo has on my classroom in comparison to when I first started teaching and did not have a program like this in my classroom. I also see the positive changes in my students with using ClassDojo when it's being carried over from year to year when the next teacher that they get are using ClassDojo as well. This helps with classroom management not only for one teacher but for an entire school if everybody is on board and using ClassDojo.
So with any program you decide to use in the classroom measuring success I believe comes from the teacher themselves. It's not something that can be measured overnight or with a program in just a couple of months it does take time. Some programs might be able to be measured in a couple months time but something like this program for classroom management I see the effects after 5 years of use. Classroom measurement can also come between colleagues within a school or School District. If teachers are sharing what they are doing in the classroom with the tools they are using this is another great way to measure success. Then of course if school districts are using tools across the district, And this too is a great way to measure success..
